Verse of the day 04_29_2014

Hebrews 10:26-31
26 If we deliberately keep on sinning after we have received the knowledge of the truth, no sacrifice for sins is left, 27 but only a fearful expectation of judgment and of raging fire that will consume the enemies of God. 28 Anyone who rejected the law of Moses died without mercy on the testimony of two or three witnesses. 29 How much more severely do you think someone deserves to be punished who has trampled the Son of God underfoot, who has treated as an unholy thing the blood of the covenant that sanctified them, and who has insulted the Spirit of grace? 30 For we know him who said, “It is mine to avenge; I will repay,”[d] and again, “The Lord will judge his people.”[e] 31 It is a dreadful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.

This morning as I read this verse I have memories of my earlier walk with the Lord. I used to ask myself why would God be so hard on the Jews for staying in Judaism (Laws and sacrifice). I think it was because if they didn’t turn towards the once and for all sacrifice they would be continuing to sacrifice an offering that would be useless and an insult to God and they never be forgiven because a perfect sacrifice had to be offered. For God had given his son for an offering to free them from laws and sacrifices which was the final perfect sacrifice. Jesus offered himself a once and for all sacrifice so that we would be free to worship him in spirit and in truth.

Like with Moses the people had to believe and without belief they died.

I realize just how important belief is to God. Belief is a heart felt faith that does not waver.
I will admit in earlier days of my walk with God I did waver and that is why the wrath of God came on me more than one time. I now thank God for Hebrews which I was so afraid to read at one time in my life. I did not even want to read it but God had mercy on me and knew that at some point I would come to believe in total faith. Praise him for that gift I didn’t deserve.

He didn’t have to he could have taken me home but he allowed grace to do its work in me and I am growing closer and closer to an all forgiving God through shear faith.

Do I fear God? Yes, but I know who I have to strengthen me. Jesus the Christ his perfect son in whom I thank and serve. The word of God.

Memories of falling out of faith do come back to me but I stand firm and know that the word of God is all powerful and Satin has no power. Satin will try to bring memories back to mind but I stand strong and boldly approach the throne of grace with faith.

I say blessed be the name of the lord who takes away the sin of the world.

If I believe it then I no longer turn towards other things. No more fear, I remain in the truth that Jesus is who he is and will never change. He is an eternal sacrifice and I am maid alive in him.

So today as I realize we have an all Loving God and we are to server him, I do realize also we serve a God that demands our faith with no wavering at all. We don’t return to our own way of thinking but we continue with the truth and hang tight to it with all of our might and strength even when the darts come hurling towards us from the father of lies, Satin.

I will remember this verses today and hold fast to it no matter what.

The first one comes from the next chapter in Hebrews chapter 11:6

And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.

Psalm 14:1
The fool[a] says in his heart, “There is no God.” They are corrupt, their deeds are vile;
there is no one who does good.

God hates unbelief and if we do not believe Jesus did what he did and he is a perfect sacrifice then no forgiveness remains

This is why my fear has left me concerning the past when I was disobedient.
Faith is what I live by. It is clear that in today’s scripture God is not to be doubted in the least.

We live by faith and anything less is sin.

God hates sin which is unbelief.

I think of this today. If he has made me free and I am free indeed I should not have any unbelief in my life for if I did I would die in it. I choose to believe.

Today’s song tells why I believe……….

Verse of the day 04_28_2014

John 8:31-32

To the Jews who had believed him, Jesus said, “If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. 32 Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”

Jesus made this statement just after asking them “he who is without sin let him cast the first stone?”. It is interesting that Jesus asked the woman if no one condemned her. No one was left but them standing and he said if no one condemns you then he would not condemn her. I think it is a good example for us to always communicate with the God even when we know he knows everything. Communication and Relationship is the theme to me throughout John 8.

In the book of John chapter 8 it is filled with Jesus doing what the father says. A total relationship with the father. I also realized he says he who sent me. I must do the same because Jesus sends me as a disciple of his word just as his father did.

Jesus said if we hold fast to his teaching we will be disciples and we will be led to the truth. The truth that every man on earth needs a savior and we will be free and know the truth if we turn from our rebellious ways and listen to him and his call on our lives. The truth is Jesus himself.

He is a light for us to follow and grow with. When we are in darkness we do not understand the truth because we are blind but since we came to the understanding of the word of God now a light now guides our way. The word of the lord is such a strong and powerful gorup of chapters and verses. I can not imagine living day by day without the word of God as a comforter and help.

The whole chapter of John 8 is filled with Jesus teaching them obedience to the father and who his father was. Jesus had absolute focus on who he was and where he was going and he also knew how weak we are in the sinful state we were born in.

Jesus taught his followers that he was from the father and he obeys the father.

I am a sinner but I have been saved by grace through faith. My discipleship is made strong through the word of God. Just as Jesus spoke about the father, I too should speak about the father focusing on the Son (Jesus) who is the father that became flesh and dwelt among us. I focus on him because God allowed his Son to have a relationship with sinners. He died in our place because of Love for us. He obeyed totally to the end in death.

I am nothing but filthy rags to God standing alone but Jesus allows me freedom to stand with him through the death at Calvary and he speaks to the father in my behalf. Jesus is my advocate to the father.

Once we confess our sin then Jesus is faithful to forgive us.

That is the freedom we have. Not that we should sin more but that when we sin we are convicted and have freedom to go to Jesus boldly with our confessions of disobedience and weakness, ask for forgiveness, truly repent, learn from out mistakes and wholeheartedly work to eradicate the sin that so easily besets us. It’s a process day by day. One day at a time.

What a mighty act of Love.

So today as I go about my way I will realize that I have freedom. A freedom that allows me to learn about God, and although I make mistakes his helping hand and his word I will grow in grace with no condemnation through Jesus.

His word:
keeps me free,
teaches me,
builds me,
guides me,
strengthens me,
gives me courage,
makes me fearless,
keeps me resolute,
and motivates me.

Let me think on these things that Jesus teaches me in his word.

The song for today is about living in freedom. Devotion to him what he did……..Powerful song……

Verse of the day 04_27_2014

Acts 18:9-10
Then spake the Lord to Paul in the night by a vision, Be not afraid, but speak, and hold not thy peace:  For I am with thee, and no man shall set on thee to hurt thee: for I have much people in this city.

When I was reading Acts 18 about Paul’s trip to Corinth I could see how Paul was always in contact with the Lord and always teaching about Jesus and leading them to repentance and baptizing them. God told him I have many people in this city. I personally think he was speaking about many unbelievers and well as many Christians.

I have to really work on being a better disciple: This is a serious call on my life to not be taken lightly. That is all Paul did was preach salvation and good news 24-7.

We are all called to go into the world and make disciples of the Lord also. Can I honestly say that that is my main focus when I leave my home and go to work? I know we live in the world and are not of the world but do I have making disciples my utmost important focus for my day?

This is something for me to really think about today…..

Just like in the day of Paul’s mission trips hearing the good news was not an easy issue. In the verse for today God was giving Paul assurance that no one could hurt him for spreading the good news of salvation on his mission trips.

Even today no one really wants to hear the good news but we are called to preach it every day and we too are protected by God. This is not an easy job. We heard it and responded. We must continue and spread what we heard and offer to others.

Yesterday’s verse of the day comments were quite different from today. I rejoiced in the fact that it is complete, free and we did nothing to earn it and I was very excited and praising God for the free gift that I had not earned. I was excited and praises abounded. Those feelings are still there but in today’s scripture I know we still have to do our part and that is spread the good news of salvation to a lost and hurting world. It’s our call to Love and make disciples of every nation.
Don’t just keep the excitement to myself only?

It’s like this verse: James 2 14- 17
14 What does it profit, my brethren, if someone says he has faith but does not have works? Can faith save him? 15 If a brother or sister is naked and destitute of daily food, 16 and one of you says to them, “Depart in peace, be warmed and filled,” but you do not give them the things which are needed for the body, what does it profit? 17 Thus also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead.

This is a deep and difficult understanding I know. It opens the door for discussion of eternal salvation, once save always saved and other discussions about salvation but can I be saved if I don’t work for God. Well I don’t think the rewards will be to impressive in the end.

1 Corinthians 3 13-15
13 Every man’s work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man’s work of what sort it is.
14 If any man’s work abide which he hath built there upon, he shall receive a reward.
15 If any man’s work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire.

I want to try and get to a place where I too can listen to God as Paul did. Can I hear God speak to me in a small still voice? Sometimes I do when I am turned to him. I hear and feel his presence sometimes very clearly and at other times I strain to hear him.

I realize today that when I have a lot of things going on in my life and I am straining to hear from God I tend to concentrate on problems instead of God and soon I can’t hear that small still voice speaking to me because I have too many things in the way. When things start to get uncomfortable and difficult I have to stop and settle down and then when I am at peace I start to hear from God again.

Clearing my mind every morning is something I do and have been doing for quite a while now but I have not mastered bringing that peace into a busy world. I do find that keeping one verse on my mind all day does help me to stay focused on him but as I get involved with the world, work and everything else my attention starts falling away and before I realize it I am totally not focused on God and leave him far behind. Then things start falling away from his plan for me.

So today as I move into another blessed day given to me let me focus on how to be a good disciple of God like Paul and only focused on him. Let me learn how to walk totally in submission to Gods will for my life and share the good news.

Well I have a lot to think about today.

I ask myself this question today, am I really working for God’s good news or am I more concerned about me?

Today is Sunday let me give him all of my attention and thank him for what he has done.

Verse of the day 04_26_2014

Verse of the day (Ephesians 2:8)

Ephesians 2:8 – For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:

My first verse of the day after a long while and taking a break is long winded this morning. It’s Saturday and I have some extra time for my first verse of the day back. Sorry …I guess I had a lot pinned up in me since I quit writing them a while back and today is a special revelation to me from today’s verse on top of that ……..anyway…..But really thank you to all that asked me to do this again. I am humbled and grateful that I am able to use this medium to express my thoughts in a free country under God.

You can start the song for my day below now if you want, and let it play low in the background if you would like. It is such a beautiful song.
This morning as I think about the word faith in today’s scripture I see something different from the other times I have read it. I looked up the definition of faith in the dictionary. I always focused on the word gift and grace in this verse in the past but faith stuck out.

Here are a few definitions of faith.
strong belief or trust in someone or something
allegiance to duty or a person
firm belief in something for which there is no proof
complete trust

Complete trust jumped out at me. I have always focused upon the words gift and grace but now I see something new through the word complete. There are only 2 scriptures with the word complete in the (kjv) new testament (Col 2:10 and Col 4:12) Interesting because I read the niv version most of the time and it says stand firm. But reading with a focus on complete in th kjv, well it is powerful without saying anymore.

We are MADE complete by trusting through faith.
(Col 2:10 And ye are complete IN HIM, which is the head of all principality and power)
(Col 4:12 Epaphras, who is one of you, a servant of Christ, saluteth you, always labouring fervently for you in prayers, that ye may stand perfect and complete IN ALL THE WILL OF GOD.)

We stand complete because of him and not us. This has opened my eyes with a different light and meaning. I have read this verse and memorized it and it has amazed me how today God is showing me something I have never considered about this famous verse . Eph 2:8. ////Such an Amazing God we serve. \\\

Standing complete combined with faith is powerful because it has a finished connotation. (DONE)Thinking about it this way is really so humbling. To know that we can’t do anything to earn it takes a burden off of me. So if I can’t do anything else then I must praise God for such an amazing grace. If it is complete and finished and I believe it then it is reasonable to say all I have left to do is to thank and praise him for such a great and awesome gift. We can’t work for it because it is done and we can’t do anything special to gain the gift of God which is eternal life. WOW !!! Can it really be that simple. I really think so; YES…..because his word is clear.

I wonder if I really understand the work of the cross? I mean really understand the finality of the work Christ did for us in his sacrifice for our sins. There is nothing I have to do but believe it, trust it and live it. That is all….the rest comes natural if I give my life to it. Total acceptance and belief nothing less… belief…….. I think that those that are opposed to eternal security don’t understand scripture and the power God has given to a true believer. A true believer…..A true believer has eternal security. ( Read: Eternal Security by Charles Stanley) Charles Stanley has taken a lot of ridicule for that statement but they must I believe he is speaking to a true convert who truly believes yet struggles in the flesh.
Galatians 2:20 (I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.

At this very minute the hairs on my arm are standing straight in the air. How much more clear is this scripture and no wonder it is one of the most popular verses in the bible. I am in awe………..
When I became a believer I had all of the completeness of a perfect sacrificial offering through his son Jesus. I was given sanctification which is now waiting to be brought to completion through Jesus Christ who took my place. The powerful thing is it has already been done and accepted. My name is written in the book of life. I now only have to wait for his arrival. I am growing in that grace, LEARNING to use the power given to me, and coming to an understanding of the battle we are in against the old nature vs the new nature.

Now I have a nature that wants to totally serve God and only him. Yet I have a tugging of the old nature to rebel against God. It’s quite natural to rebel because of the lineage of Adam, but we have victory in him that has already won the battle of death for us. Here is where the power lies (through him)………like Gal 2:20 states…

So today as I go about my way I want to really consider what has been done for me instead of trying to perform or figure it out. That gives me a total freedom to worship him. I walk with a sense of adoration for everything done for me instead of falling into a fear based belief. There is nothing to fear. Perfect love cast out all fear.

I want to really get a grip on being complete in what he has done like Col 4:12 states, that we may stand perfect and complete in all the will of God.
The will of God is to simply believe in him and what he did is real and alive and to serve from a heart of worship.

This Sunday I want to have a sense of praise in my heart for what he did.

I do believe in him and what he has done for me and everyone who believes.
It is complete…..

Verse of the day 04_25_2014

Verse of the day

Verse of the day (Psalm 3:2-6)

Lots of people have asked me to continue verse of the day and read what my thoughts are for that day. Thanks dave

(Psalm 3:2-6)
Many are saying of me, “God will not deliver him.” “Selah” But you are a shield around me, O LORD; you bestow glory on me and lift up my head. To the LORD I cry aloud, and he answers me from his holy hill. “Selah” I lie down and sleep; I wake again, because the LORD sustains me. I will not fear the tens of thousands drawn up against me on every side.

If I ever listen to other people and what they think of me ( even Christians) merely because I can fall into sin or appear as if I fell into sin to them from a misunderstood event or situation, then I will be off track from what the bible says about my relationship with God through Jesus.

I must hang on to what he says about me. He is a jealous God and wants me to call on him for every need and depend solely on him and focus only on him. He knows me and I must follow him in every area of my life. If I do that then what others think of me will repel off of me and never damage my relationship with Christ Jesus.

So when I look at anyone whether Christians or lost children of God I must never ever judge them and especially try hard not to hammer them on the head about how they choose to live. God will draw them and guide them not me. I can pray earnestly which is what I am asked of God. Pray with out ceasing.

So Dave, if you see someone in a blatant sin are you saying that you would not confront them?
Depending on what it is I would try very hard to avoid trying to do God’s work. It would have to be something that God is really leading me to do and even if he would lead me I would for sure pray very very hard about it before I get involved with another person’s affairs. Especially spiritual.

Now,,,, if someone is asking me for help, prayer or just to listen I praise God and give him the glory and show them the scripture and how it will help them back to him or save their souls but not my own words. God says to hide the words in your heart. Even if no bible is around me I can still quote them scriptures seated deep in my soul and God will call them to remembrance in a split second.

Prayer is powerful and I feel like sometimes we don’t give prayer enough time to do its work. When we pray for someone we feel needs your help we need not worried about how you will answer. Just Trust you will answer because he has hidden them in your hear and given you opportunity to witness to them.

I think sometimes we step ahead of prayer.

Hope is a fuel and we need to let hope do its work.

Fill up our hearts with Hope and keep our hearts full…….day by day, hour by hour, minute by minute.

So do I really know the meaning of Romans 8:28
And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.
