Give not that which is holy unto the dogs, neither cast ye your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn again and rend you.
Wow until today I never realize how jam packed Matthews 7 is with really great wisdom. Subjects like hypocrites, judging, seeking, false prophets, bearing fruit, the kingdom of God, Obedience, building a house on a rock. This chapter of Matthews is a great chapter to just read. It’s not long but filled with great verses. At the end of the chapter is says that the people were astonished at his doctrine.
Now today’s verse about casting you pearls before swine could be something like this, some people just flat don’t want to hear the good news. We have to be careful when we share that good news. We need to be wise and use the good sense God gave us. God will work in a persons life and if we feel in the spirit it is not something that they will receive then we don’t force them to listen to what we have to say. In other words we are gracious and compassionate.
We are commanded to preach the gospel but there are times we will find some people are unappreciative when we present the good things of God. It’s something that takes time to learn and we rely on discernment in each case. Follow the spirit.
Let me realize I am called to evangelize and at the same time let me know how to listen, wait, pray, and
use wisdom when I do share the word of God.
Here are a few verses for me to think about today.
Then saith he unto his disciples, The harvest truly is plenteous, but the labourers are few;
Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he will send forth labourers into his harvest.
The key phrase in this verse to me is (HE WILL SEND FORTH LABOURERS INTO THE HARVEST)………….
1 Corinthian 9:22
To the weak became I as weak, that I might gain the weak: I am made all things to all men, that I might by all means save some.
And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.
Live the word of God where ever you go………….
1 Peter 3:15
But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear:
Study the word of God ………………………………….
2 Timothy 4:5
But watch thou in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, make full proof of thy ministry.
Be ready ………………..
There are many more scriptures about evangelizing if you search the word evangelism. In 1 Peter 3:15 I think the key word is meekness. We should be loving and meek when we share the good news.
Having said all of this there could be times we will have to stand bold but that is a different subject. I think meekness would be a practical overview of Matthew 7:6.
So today as I move into yet another blessed day given to me by grace I will listen for God’s voice and speak with wisdom. This verse shall serve me well today. I could benefit today if I would make a point to do what this verse from the book of James is asking me to do.
Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath:
