Verse of the day 05/21/2014

Isaiah 52:7
How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of him who brings good news, who publishes peace, who brings good news of happiness, who publishes salvation, who says to Zion, “Your God reigns.”

Throughout our precious word in the bible over and over the writers of the old testament, the new testament and the word that came to the prophets from God himself are always assuring us of his love for us and his discipline for us because of an awesome love for mankind.

What a good scripture for me today. A scripture of affirmation of his love. I like the way the writer says he published peace, he published salvation. That is such an awesome way to put it (published).

A time to reflect on his only son’s sacrifice for us. I give thanks today for his love.
He Reigns, He Reigns………………..

Let me focus upon scripture this morning.

Some scriptures about his love for us today. We can never get tired of this verse to start off with.

John 3:16 – For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

(Whosoever) Just anyone broken and at an end of despair can come lay their worries at his feet and he shall never in nowise turn them down.
John 6:37
All that the Father giveth me shall come to me; and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out.

I am glad that we as believers were given to him and he promises us he will not cast us out.

1 Corinthians 13:4-7
Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up,
Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil;
Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth; Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things.

Dear father help me to keep love at the forefront of my life.
I know sin abounds in me but I also know you have the power to keep me focused on your love.
Help me to put on the armor of God every morning.
Help me to recognize your glory in your creation today.

Mark 12:30-31
And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment. And the second is like, namely this, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. There is none other commandment greater than these.

Dear father I need help today with this scripture. May I love my enemies with a true love and not a fleshly love. Let me love as you love and not the judgmental love of the world. Let me love everyone today.
1 Peter 4:8
And above all things have fervent charity among yourselves: for charity shall cover the multitude of sins.

This verse came alive and I saw something that my spirit taught me today. (multitude of sins) Can I come to a love like Jesus for he died for all of our sins and it came totally from nothing but love. Love was at every level of his decision to lay his life down for us. So I ask and pray today that I learn how to love like Jesus. He covered a multitude of sins all from love for us.

So dear father as I move into this blessed day given to me by grace and truth let me know this love of 1 peter 4:8 and the other verses mentioned today.

Let me know your love.

Here is a nice song I was led to this morning. The words fit today’s devotion really well.
