But now that you have been set free from sin and have become slaves of God, the fruit you get leads to sanctification and its end, eternal life.
This verse is such a comforting verse to hear. We have been set free from sin. I like the way the writer Paul puts it “the fruit that leads to sanctification and it’s end eternal life”.
This tells me that there is a process in our walk with God. It tells me that there is an end and it is eternal life with God.
We need to let the spirit lead us into salvation.
I looked up sanctification in wikipedia:
Sanctification is the act or process of acquiring sanctity, of being made or becoming holy. “Sanctity” is an ancient concept widespread among religions, a property of a thing or person sacred or set apart within the religion, from temple vessels to days of the week, to a human believer who achieves this state. To sanctify is literally “to set apart for special use or purpose”, figuratively “to make holy or sacred”, and etymologically from the Latin verb sanctificare which in turn is from sanctus “holy” and facere “to make”.
We are becoming holy through grace and truth. We hold on to faith no matter what evil comes our way by standing strong in God’s word and truth.
1 Corinthians 6:11
Such were some of you; but you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and in the Spirit of our God.
We are clean through Jesus’s blood for us. He has washed us clean.
But I have written very boldly to you on some points so as to remind you again, because of the grace that was given me from God, to be a minister of Christ Jesus to the Gentiles, ministering as a priest the gospel of God, so that my offering of the Gentiles may become acceptable, sanctified by the Holy Spirit.
Paul was always preaching grace and truth. In romans he mentions a battle between the flesh and the spirit. So this is evident that we are in a battle and being made holy.
1 Peter 2:2-3
like newborn babies, long for the pure milk of the word, so that by it you may grow in respect to salvation, if you have tasted the kindness of the Lord.
Just as a child has to learn from his parents we too as spiritual beings must learn from God’s word so we can be led to salvation.
“Sanctify them in the truth; Your word is truth.
So dear father as I move into another day given to me by grace and truth let me know that I am being sancitfied and it is a process. Let me be willing to learn from your word and walk in truth knowing there is a force of evil that wishes to tear me down like a roaring lion.
God made a promise he will return to us…………..
