Verse of the day 05_04_2014

Verse of the day (1 Tim 6:3-5)
3 If any man teach otherwise, and consent not to wholesome words, even the words of our Lord Jesus Christ, and to the doctrine which is according to godliness;
4 He is proud, knowing nothing, but doting about questions and strifes of words, whereof cometh envy, strife, railings, evil surmisings,
5 Perverse disputings of men of corrupt minds, and destitute of the truth, supposing that gain is godliness: from such withdraw thyself.

My views today are not based on this scripture but as I was reading 1 Timothy 6 I though of some leaders in authority preaching legalism and law and do away with the Grace teaching Jesus taught.
These comments are not on topic with 1 Timothy 6:3-5.

I am growing stronger in grace living every day. I like the christian channels. 9o% of them are scripture right on however, there are some who preach things that are similar today’s scripture. Questions and strife and full of confusion. Now I turn then off but there was a time I let that teaching interfere with what the bible teaches me.

I have heard many of radio preachers that really surprise me with statements like if you use the internet you shall be damned and will lose your salvation and going to hell. The radio plays some pretty way out stuff and that is the medium they use. Should they not preach on the radio? My understanding of scripture is that God made everything. This scripture comes to mind. John 1:3
All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.

John 1 goes on to say more….. I think I can understand where someone would preach that way but I don’t believe the use of the internet itself is evil. The way it is used can be very evil and there are many temptations of which one can fall at anytime when on the internet. I try stay away from temptation on the internet but to say that the use of the internet is totally evil is quite a bit drastic. There are tools we can use to filter and all sorts of things. Fallen man has corrupted what is intended for good.
Facebook is a wonderful tool but I could use it in the wrong way. So to say it has corrupted us would not be a true statement to me.

I have mentioned in other verse of the day’s that I admit that my views today are subject to change and I am quite careful to allow others their beliefs without judging them,  but I have my beliefs also and I try to stay with truth. I am free. This verse comes to mind.

1 Corinthians 10:23
All things are lawful for me, but all things are not expedient: all things are lawful for me, but all things edify not.

I let the spirit of God guide me.

I am playing music again and I enter into areas that are not bible driven to say the least but I understand that I am a musician. Night clubs and places of the like are not places I would go to if not playing music but that is where typically musicians play for the most part. I do so because of the nature of my work. Being a musician is primarily to entertain people.
I have seen God at work in the hearts of people and I have had many people ask of my faith and want to know more about it.

So playing music is permissible but not profitable. This is for the most part true. But my understanding is that for doing so I am not condemned because scripture states this in the book of John chapter 8 Jesus is with a woman who was caught in adultery and as the verse progresses the scribes and pharisees tell Jesus, Moses says in the law we are to stone her to death but Jesus asked them he who is with out sin cast the first stone. Then Jesus asked the woman who is accusing you? The woman said no one and Jesus said neither do I condemn thee.

Jesus told the woman go sin no more. He didn’t say go sit in a certain place and stay there and never leave because you may fall into sin again. He told her to sin no more. To control her self and live right.
I believe he meant now that you have seen me and know me sin no more because of the awakening of her spirit toward the knowledge of Jesus the Christ. I believe Jesus was impressing on her she now has guidance and lives from his spirit living in her and guiding her into all truth.
I would say that there is not one situation that the word of God can not clear up simply by praying and asking God to show me clear understanding. Jesus says if we want knowledge ask for it and it will be given.

Would a plumber not fix the plumbing in a night club if someone called and wanted their plumbing worked on? Just a hypothetical here for sure but if I were a plumber and someone wanted me to fix the plumbing at a night club I might think what a wonderful time to be a vessel of God. God may want to use me to respond in a way that may cause the owner of the club think about his spiritual condition.

Some people would condemn me for playing in places like that and I understand but a verse in the bible comes to mind “in everything you do do it unto the Lord” and I play music so I play unto the Lord. I don’t get drunk and abusive I just enjoy playing guitar and enjoy playing with good musicians. I have seen some things in there but I have stood in line at Walmart and seen and heard a lot of things that are not pleasing too.
We are in the world but not of the world.

Like I said maybe I shall feel differently in the future but I have met some very interesting and kind people over the years as a musician and learned a lot about people and have actually learned many interesting things. Some with great hearts and intelligent views when I have the chance to talk with some of them and some not so kind but I pray that God will call them and they will answer. In the mean time I will Praise my God and savior for the grace given to me and everyone who wants it.

I believe that I am free. I am free indeed.

What a wonderful world we live in.

This is the day the Lord has made.

So as I go through my day today I will not listen to someone that is expressing hate, disputes, and destitute of the truth.

Today’s song for my day is obvious…..I am free…………….

Amen
