Verse of the day 06/06/2014

1 John 5:19
We know that we are of God, and the whole world lies under the sway of the wicked one.

As we move in the realm of the earth we as believers know the battle very well against the two natures we now live with. Before belief and conversion we were unaware of spiritual things. As believers we have two natures active in our lives. One that wants to do good and one that wants to disobey the things of God.

This is a daily battle that goes on in our minds and in our physical world. Everyday we must remember to put on the armor of God so that we can combat the evil presence in the world.

Today I will meditate only on this verse. There is a lot of wisdom in this one verse. So I will concentrate on each piece of armor to help strengthen me against the wickedness of the world.

The Armor of God

Ephesians 6:10-18
10 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. 11 Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. 12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. 13 Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. 14 Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, 15 and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. 16 In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. 17 Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.
So dear father as I move into this blessed day given to me by your grace let me really understand every piece of armor that helps protect me.
