Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life. He does not come into judgment, but has passed from death to life.
Hearing the word and believing the word is a life changing event. It has to take effect deep inside the heart then a consciousness of a connection with conviction converts a sinner to his eternal destiny. I always look back on that important decision in my life when I heard the word and believed the word and then let the word do its work in me.
Today I will look at verses that talk about hearing the word:
“The one on whom seed was sown on the rocky places, this is the man who hears the word and immediately receives it with joy;
Let me hear and obey.
My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:
I have learned to hear Gods voice and I try very hard to listen to him.
So then faith [cometh] by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
I must study the word of God and hearing the word of God builds my faith.
For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.
The word of God is powerful and quickens the heart to action through belief and faith.
2 Timothy 3:16
All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:
I am so grateful that God inspired men of God to write the words of the bible. Their obedience has given us hope and through faith I continue to the high calling of Christ Jesus.
So as I move into this blessed day given to me by grace I will listen to what God says to me through the word and his spirit.
I will follow.
