But for me it is good to be near God; I have made the Lord God my refuge, that I may tell of all your works.
I can truthfully say that I try very hard to tell others of the good things God has done in my life. I make God my main focus everyday and try very hard to remain faithful in everything that comes my way but at the same time I am conscious of a great truth, I am a sinner subject to fall at any moment. Because of that fact I know I need a savior and that savior is Jesus Christ.
Although sometimes I don’t feel near to God there are many days that I do feel close to him. The days I don’t feel close to him are opportunity’s for me to grow and find out what is in the way of my spiritual life. I can ask myself what am I doing that is not pleasing to God. Every time I take a good honest hard look I will find that what I am doing does not line up with his word and is hindering my walk with him.
It is so easy to fall away from obedience.
Anyway I look at it God loves me just as I am. A sinner saved by grace. But I have a choice to live close to him or not. That is ultimately up to me.
Today I want to concentrate on these verses:
But if serving the Lord seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your ancestors served beyond the Euphrates, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you are living. But as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord.”
It is a choice to follow God and I choose to follow him.
God is not unjust; he will not forget your work and the love you have shown him as you have helped his people and continue to help them.
I know God does not forget my works for the kingdom but I do not do it for recognition I do it because the spirit in me is always guiding me to prompting me to do the work of the written word.
1 Samuel 12:24
But be sure to fear the LORD and serve him faithfully with all your heart; consider what great things he has done for you.
I try very very hard to listen to what God has done for me by reading his word and I thank him every day for what he has done for me.
Whoever serves me must follow me; and where I am, my servant also will be. My Father will honor the one who serves me.
Let me try very hard to keep an ear tuned to what the spirit is leading me to do. It is an effort on my part to be conscious of the spiritual life. If he leads me to make a decision that is not popular by others I will do it anyway if I know it is of the Lord.
Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord.
So heavenly father as I grow in grace my prayer today is to never loose that fire inside of me. My prayer is that I never loose focus and stay closely connected to your will in my life even when I fall into sin let me know that I must quickly repent and turn it over to Jesus then move on.
Let me serve only you as the words in today’s song.
