If then you have been raised with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth.
I am in the world but not of it and if I am not careful my focus will be on material things. What a quick trap Satin can put me in if I am not careful. There are so many things God has allowed man to create and a lot of those things can be addictive.
Golf, Tennis, video games etc. can consume us if we are not careful. I have to make sure I am seeking the presence of the Lord everyday and in prayer that I not let my flesh take control and be led away from the consciousness of the spirit of God.
If I am focused on God I will be able to control the flesh much easier than just waking up with no guidance in my life.
Today I will take these verses and meditate on the meanings of each one:
1 John 2:16
For all that [is] in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.
Dear Father may I never lust after the things of live but let me enjoy them while praising your grace for letting me have things that are pleasing.
1 Timothy 6:9,10
But they that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and [into] many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in destruction and perdition. For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.
I will be grateful for everything but be aware of the temptation that comes with wealth. As long as I am in close relationship with you my chances are much better to not fall…..
He that loveth silver shall not be satisfied with silver; nor he that loveth abundance with increase: this is also vanity.
Let me never look to wealth for my self worth or ego. Let me attain what I need for my calling and be content in every situation I am in.
1 John 2:15-17
Love not the world, neither the things [that are] in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.
As I move into another blessed day given to my by your grace I am grateful right now. Not when I get this or that or when something I am waiting something to make me happier but right at this moment and every moment moving forward. I want to live minute by minute evaluating my position in you and living in your will for my life.
