Verse of the day 09/21/2014 – Once saved alway saved? That’s the question.

David W. Aucoin (Guitarist and Songwriter)                   p1
In the last 3 or 4 weeks I have really been lambasted about my belief in once saved always saved from other denominations and beliefs.

I am a Christian. I attend a Baptist Church in Louisiana (  I sometimes run into customers or friends of friends and we engage in conversations about faith every now and then. When they find out that I believe in Once saved always saved I usually don’t get two words in as to what my view is. Only that they don’t like that phrase….so……………………
I always express thoughts better by writing them down anyway and since no one is here to not let me finish I want to share why I believe what I believe and why I think you can not lose your salvation.

The bible is clear about it to me on this subject.

Most people come at me from
(Hebrews 6:4)
That verse is taken out of context so often. Paul was telling them about going back to the Law over and over again. There was no more sacrifice for sin. Christ was a perfect sacrifice through his death on the cross. He can’t do it again. So if they don’t accept that truth there is no more sacrifice for sin. It’s impossible to do the work again. It was finished. Once for all.

Belief and faith are what we live by.

Let me put it this way so I can explain it better (Once Loved always Loved).

If you take a look at the phrase ‘Once save always saved’ in the context of, (you just have to say oh yea I believe and boom its over and done with) Not hardley……

But here is the point I would like to make. Many places in the word of God lets us know that we must believe in our hearts that Jesus died for our sins and arose, and at that moment carried all of the sins of the world upon himself. He died once for all.
(Hebrews 6:10)
Now looking at it from God’s Love. If God is Love and if we believe he died for our sins then it is up to us to accept his love knowing that he forgave us of our sins. I emphasize FORGAVE (final). There is a earnest and reverent giving all of ourselves to a Love we can’t understand. If we confess our sin he is faithful to forgive us.
(Romans 10:9)

We experienced in our heart and spirit a knowing and a connection at conversion that simply can only be known and not explained though the flesh or carnal understanding.
Let me put it still another way. If a heart is truly repentant and knows that he needs a savior and if he falls away and turns his back on God the penalty is separation here in this earthly realm. In the word of God it says he will never leave us nor forsake us.

We think we have left him because we have an understanding from a fleshly view according to the world. He is there always just as he was with the prodigal son. In fact when the prodigal son came to his senses the father ran to meet his son.

He will chastise those he loves should we get off track. (Hebrews 12:6)

He also Loves us with a never ending Love.

But a true repentant person will want to press forward and work for the things he knows will come to pass because he knows Gods word and promises. He lives by the fruit of the spirit.

Self- Control

A “Saved Person” builds his house on these attributes and not Hate, selfishness, rudeness, and all of the other negative forces.

We are free indeed but our spirit leads us. Not our flesh.
(Galatians 5:22-26)
So I could go back and forth with this issue for days with some other religious beliefs and what would that do? This is the stand I take because the spirit of God is so loving and gracious to teach me the truth about salvation. Not that I am special but that I am a child of a God who loves me. I know this.

In the verse below it says rebirth. So If God is Love and we are born into eternal life then eternal life is eternal life. There is no death. It’s eternal. That’s the God of Love I read about in the bible.

So I conclude with this verse Titus 3:5. It is not of our selves but the Love of God that now lets us day by day learn how to live according to the spirit building each other up with Love and patients for one another. Helping make this world a better place by showing Love to a dying world.

Paul said not that I have attained the prize but I press on for the high calling of God.
(Philippeans 3:12-14)

Titus 3:5
he saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit,

Paul an apostle of Jesus Christ had struggles and issues, but God told him his grace is sufficient.

God’s love can not be explained in the flesh, but through the experiences of his Love and direction led by the Holy Spirit lets me know he is there with me.

So I believe in once saved always saved (once loved always loved) how ever you want to put it. When I say once saved always saved it does not mean that I do what I want to do and I just forget about God. No, the spirit within me guides me into truth and everyday I press on for the high calling of God knowing that I may fall down, but I get back up and start again and again and again.

Thanks for reading and may God bless you in all your endeavors.

The cup which my Saviour giveth me, can it be anything but a cup of salvation?
